I started listening to Schooled in the car...Laura,

I started listening to Schooled in the car last night on my way to the Virginia library conference. I loved the Tie-Dye scene!

I remember Gordon Korman visiting my middle school (gosh, 20 years ago now?!) when I was in 7th or 8th grade. He was an excellent speaker if I remember correctly. I love hearing about how he sent his first book to Scholastic with his monthly book order. Some of his earlier titles will always be my favorites. No Coins Please and This Can't be Happening at MacDonald Hall.

I can't wait to finish Schooled. I really connected to the fact that Cap is trying to learn everyone's names. I'm at a new school this year and have almost 800 names to learn. I think I've learned almost 100. It's such a slow process. Maybe I should be keeping a list....Carolynhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03339658707495844604noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-4940785397803314243.post-84021093360896762542011-11-16T19:15:50.487-05:002011-11-16T19:15:50.487-05:00I LOVE that your school as a One Book, One School ...I LOVE that your school as a One Book, One School program! I never had an author visit my school when I was a girl. I think this would have knocked my socks off.

PS -- Schooled was on the Louisiana Young Readers' Choice Awards list a few years ago, and while it didn't ultimately win, it was hugely popular at my school.Caroline Starr Rosehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/04597510685273079757noreply@blogger.com
