Kira-kira

Kira-kira was the SADDEST book I have ever read. I think it was particularly sad for me because I have had personal experience with LOTS of medical procedures. It is about a little girl named Katie who's sister Len had cancer. The book told about the sadness in the family, the hospital visits, and how confusing and scary it can all be. This book is also about issues of culture because Katie's family is Japanese-American and are moving to Georgia and away from the people that are excepting of them and into a strange world. I recommend this book, but make sure you have a box of tissues nearby.
