Ginger Pye

Seems like several books for kids are about "the adventures of a boy and his dog"… This book is about Jerry Pye and his dog, Ginger. A typical adventure story, this book was cute, but didn’t thrill me: boy wants dog, boy gets dog, boy is happy, dog runs away, someone finds dog, boy is happy, then the book ends. Some kids REALLY like books about dogs, but I’m not that kind of kid. My favorite books about dogs are Because of Winn Dixie and Sounder.

  1. Hi Laura,
I'm in 4th Grade too. My name is Gracie and I have a blog with my dad, one of my sisters and one of my brothers. It is called Bookie Woogie.

You've read way more books than I have! I didn't know there were that many with gold stickers.

I looked at some of your reviews of books that I've read too - like Holes, Ginger Pie, and Wheel on the School. I've read When You Reach me, and I love it too. It is so confusing, in a good way. It all makes sense at the end.

    Bye, Laura!
    Gracie

  2. Thanks for visiting, I have really wanted to meet other kids my age who blog about books and you are the first! I went to your blog, and loved it! What a great idea to do it with your family! I love to read all sorts of books, right now I am trying to read books that might be next year's Newbery and other GREAT books. I'm reading Little Women today, have you read it yet? It is delicious!

  3. I haven't read Little Women, but we have the book. I might have to check that out. My mom has the movie too. But usually movies aren't as good as books. Right now I am reading a book called Inkspell. It is the the sequel of a book called Inkheart. It's really cool.

We have another blog called Chicken Nugget Lemon Tooty where we just draw stuff. My little brother Elijah has stuff there too.

    Bye Laura!
    Your friend Gracie.

  4. Have you read Stone Fox by John Reynolds Gardiner? It's my favorite dog book... but it might make you cry.
