Johnny Tremain

Set in Boston in the 1770's, this is the story of a silversmith's apprentice that burns his hand. Since his trade can't be taken on by someone without a useful right hand, he has to find some other way to earn the food he eats and the bed on which he sleeps. It seems that all his friends have turned against him. But then hope shines like the sun through clouds and suddenly his future brightens. This rebellious young man is a message carrier for the Sons of Liberty. The book Johnny Tremain has a very surprising ending.
