The Secret of the Andes

This was a book about a modern Inca boy and how he became a man. Cusi, the Inca boy, finds out that his golden earplugs are a sign of royal blood when his teacher comes to teach him about the history of the Inca kings. When he sets off to find his heart's desire, he finds that what he desires he left behind. I liked this book because it was adventurous but at the same time I didn't like it because it had the same plot as almost all of the other Newberys, a kid has a mission that to complete they must become an adult.

  1. I agree with you about the plot being similar to many Newberys. But I especially liked the style of writing in Secret of the Andes. I thought it was beautiful and poetic.
