This one was odd, but a little enjoyable. I sort of felt bad for the boy because it wasn't his fault (Stanley, the main character, gets sent to a juvenile detention camp when he finds a pair of shoes that someone stole from Clyde "Sweet Feet" Livingston). It was a little hard to read, not lots of hard words hard, but you don't really want to know what happens hard. This book was alright, but not too great.
Rating: ***
I like this book because of the way the stories overlap and cross over each other. As a teacher I also like it becuase students that don't like to read like it!
ReplyDeleteI agree with Pat. This is a book that boys really like which is great because some boys aren't that into fiction. I'm a librarian and I take books to a juvenile detention center (very different than the one in the book). All the kids there like it!
ReplyDeleteI think this book was great. Stories overlap, it has lots of good morales, and it is very complex. I would suggest this book to anyone, but I think they should not watch the movie. That was not enjoyable for me. I give Holes five stars!
