On my Newbery quest, I really enjoyed reading Invincible Louisa, an inside peak into the life of author of Little Women, Louisa May Alcott. Now onto the top 100 list, it was exciting to finally read Little Women. The story of the March girls is one that every young girl (and boy) should read at least thrice. This book is really a book of moral lessons that everyone should learn, but you are so entranced by the life of Meg and Jo and Beth and Amy and Marmee that you don’t realize that you are being given a lecture. The fact that the March family was poor is an important theme that would be meaningful to kids today during the recession.
