Since I have now read all of the Newberys, I need a new goal. One of my new goals is to predict the Newbery for this year (and, hopefully, get it right). The other one is to read the rest of the Top 100 Children’s Books. I got this list from Elizabeth Bird's blog, A Fuse #8 Production. If you haven't yet checked out this blog you should, http://www.schoollibraryjournal.com/blog/1790000379.html. I have a head start because many of the books on this list are Newbery winners and other great books I have already read. So far I have read 63 and 1/2 (I'm reading Little Women right now) of the 100.
So, I will keep reading and keep blogging. You will see some new books (possible Newberys for next year) and some old books as I finish the top 100 list. Thanks to Elizabeth Bird for my new project! I am also posting reviews of Newbery's I read before starting the blog.
Fantastic idea for a next goal Laura, and you're already 2/3 of the way through! You should be finished in no time.
ReplyDeleteI'll be looking forward to reading what you think!
ReplyDeleteOh, I like your new goal. And thanks for posting the whole list. I made a copy. I have only read 29 of them, partly because I am only up to 1957 on the Newbery List.
ReplyDeleteWhat I like best about your blog is that it is not that easy to find reviews by kids. Since I am a bookseller and parents ask my what to buy for their kids, your reviews are so helpful to me.
Keep up the great reading!
Hi Laura! I actually found your blog when it was linked by the Fuse8 blog. I found her Top 100 list about a month ago and I'm trying to read all of those as well! I have a feeling you're going to beat me :)
ReplyDeleteAlso, I just wanted to say how impressive it is that you've read all the Newberys. When I was your age (almost 15 years ago, yikes!) I tried to do the same thing, but failed miserably.

Megan,
ReplyDeleteThanks for visiting my blog, it's never too late to read all the Newberys. But, I have to warn you that they are not all good. It looks like the FUSE list might be more fun, the Dark Frigate isn't on it :)
Thanks for visiting my blog!
Laura
