Roll of Thunder, Hear My Cry

One great thing about the Newbery is that many of the books force you to think about problems with the way we treat each other in this world. Cassie Logan’s family endures many things just because they are African American. Reading this book might make you angry about all of the horrible things that happened to the Logan family, but I think that it is important that kids nowadays think about this time period so that we can make sure it never happens again and that we are treating people around us fairly now.

  1. Very good point, Laura! I think it's good when books makes us angry at injustice.

  2. I agree,I think reading books or articles about that sort of stuff gives us a chance to realize what kind of world we live in and we want to make change.
