Indian Summer

This book was perfect as a last read of the summer (I start back to school tomorrow!!!).  The story of Marcie spending the summer at her grandparent's lake house with a "popular" girl, Kaitlyn, brings you into several important adventures.  I was inspired by how Marcie put up a fight to save James Woods from development.  This story helps kids think about how they can impact things that matter to them.  When I read this book I felt like I was on vacation at a lake,  books are a great way to "go places"!  Don't worry that you are reading it after school starts, it will be a great way to extend your summer!
Rating:  *****

I love finding new books and authors to share with others, and this time I don't only recommend checking out the book but there is a great opportunity to meet Tracy Richardson on September 21st at 4:30 PM at the Hussey-Mayfield Memorial Public Library in Zionsville, Indiana. I love meeting authors and hearing from them, not only do I learn great things about thier books, I learn things that help me to become a better writer.  You can sign up here.

  1. Laura, I love your review of Indian Summer. I am a children's librarian in Winnetka(!) and am reading Indian Summer, too! Did you get to meet Ms. Richardson on September 21st?
