I have had a very sick and icky winter (as evidenced by my lack of blog posts), I will save you from all the details. The good news is I am feeling better now. Life goes on! I did manage to turn 12 a few weeks ago and celebrated by going to see the Hunger Games movie with friends. Of course I did not like the movie as much as the book, but I did like it and I REALLY like being able to talk with friends about the book and the movie!
On Thursday I got to go to the Indianapolis Public Library, McFadden Memorial lecture given by Mo Willems. It was lots of fun, as expected because Mo Willems is awesome!!! He was super funny, for adults and for kids. I loved learning how to make the pigeon look like he was talking. And drawing Knuffle Bunny was cool, too!
Currently, I am reading! After I read a super cool birthday present book I have started reading tMock Newbery books for 2013. Look for blog post for Wonder and We've Got a Job soon! In the mean time what books would you recommend Blog posts for 2013?
Great to see you back posting- I'm glad that you're feeling better. I just saw The Hunger Games movie tonight- I didn't like it as much as the book either. Will be interested in hearing your thoughts on Wonder- I have that in the TBR.
ReplyDeleteSo great to hear your voice again, and glad you're feeling better!
ReplyDeleteHave you read "The Trumpet of the Swan?" I'm reading it now and enjoying it.

Sometimes winter sucks. Happy Easter and Spring! I have been reading Lois Lenski's entire Regional Series of which Strawberry Girl (Newbery 1946) is an early one, as well as one of my favorites. Back in the 1940s and 1950s, the differences in kids' lives, because of the region where they lived, were much more varied than today. I like comparing the two eras. The books are out of print but can usually be found in libraries. Here is a link with her bibliography: http://www.mlb.ilstu.edu/ressubj/speccol/lenski/bib.html
