The Dark is Rising

I have been working on this book for over a week, it has often taken a back seat to other books that I have been reading.  This type of book, mythical adventures with kings and lords, is not really my favorite. I'm not sure why, but that is the good thing about books, their is something for everyone.  And I think reading projects like the Newbery and Top 100 are good because they force you to read books you might not pick on your own.  Reading lots of types of books will help me be a better writer and it helps me know what books to recommend to other people.  It was interesting how Will's story happened in different times.  As a book, I think that this one was good, but it wasn't my type of book.

The Grey King

This medieval adventure story with dragons and royalty definitely appeals to readers who enjoy adventures and lots of fantasy excitement. It’s always fun to root for a hero!  While I liked the book, I thought the use of all of the complicated royalty titles distracted me from the book. I found myself renaming characters to make it possible for me to keep track of them all.
