When I was little, I LOVED Lilly's Purple Plastic Purse by Kevin Henkes. I loved it so much that my parents bought me a purple plastic purse, which I took everywhere (even to preschool).
When I saw that Kevin Henkes had a new book that was getting Mock Newbery buzz, I was super excited. Penny's short and sweet story about singing her song was fun to read and an excellent break from a book I am reading for school that is about the Holocaust). I know short picture and early reader books struggle to win the Newbery and I am not sure if this book will be considered notable, but if you wanna read a cute and fun book, I highly recommend this one!
