Hurricane Katrina
It is the 5 year anniversary of Hurricane Katrina this week. That means I was 5 when it happened. I have never been to New Orleans and we do not have hurricanes here in Indiana but I remember the storm. It is amazing to think about how much I remember seeing the pictures of the storm, the ruined housed and trapped people. This summer I read Ninth Ward by Jewell Parker Rhodes. In addition to being a great story I am glad more kids will get to read about the storm and what it was like for so many people. I wonder what other books about the storm have yet to be written. I hope that you all go pick up a copy of Ninth Ward and read it today!
